St. Mary's Church Altar Renovation - Sandusky, Ohio

Janotta & Herner has done its share of Church work over the years.  We have built many additions to existing Churches, worked on steeples and towers, and even replaced stained glass windows.  But one thing we hadn't done before, was demolish and rebuild an Altar.  Sounds like a rather simple job.  But when you're talking about a solid granite Altar that weighs over 4,000 lbs., and told that you have to have the Altar removed and new decking installed to have the Church ready for next week's service, simple goes out the window.

Our JHI crew worked at warp speed to make sure the Altar was ready for Mass.  The Altar floor was enlarged and a new hand carved wood Altar was shipped from South America to replace the old granite Altar.  The floor was replaced with new 7/16" limestone tile.  The entire project took two weeks to complete and the difference this renovation made to the Church's appearance is very dramatic.
